About the Larry Hatcher, the Author

Photo of Larry HatcherI am Larry Hatcher, Professor of Psychology at Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, Michigan.

No, this is not my first offense. I am the author or co-author of five textbooks on statistics and data analysis. These books show how to perform statistical analyses using the SAS® and JMP® applications. Some examples:

  • A Step-by-Step Approach to Using SAS® for Univariate & Multivariate Statistics (co-authored with Norm O’Rourke and Edward Stepanski)
  • A Step-By-Step Approach to Using the SAS® System for Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (co-authored with Norm O’Rourke as first author)

But wait—there’s more.

I am the author or co-author of 12 articles published in peer-reviewed journals, most of which deal with organizational behavior, college student development, or statistical procedures. I am co-author of 11 additional articles in non-reviewed journals, dealing with pretty much the same topics.

Bowling Green State University awarded me a Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology in 1983. BGSU also awarded me with the love of my life. Ellen had come to my office to see her Teaching Assistant (my office mate) about a grade in a psych class. She passed. I guess I passed as well—we were married the following year. Our hobby is chauffeuring our Border Collie mutt from park to park, rain, shine, sleet, or blizzard.

I was a member of the Psychology Department at Winthrop University from 1984 to1996, and have been a member of the Psychology Department at Saginaw Valley State University from 1996 to the present.

Any kids?

Thousands of them. And they all went to college.
